Question by jabgrey: What are the church rules for the previously church wed couple if they (same couple) want to get married again?
My wife and I are both Filipino Catholics and UAE Residents. We were previously married in St. Mary’s Church, Dubai last 2008.This year, as we go for vacation in the Philippines, we plan to get married again in our home country and have complete traditional Catholic Filipino Wedding to show respect on our elders and family since they were not present in our Wedding in Dubai. I wish to know if our plans has its limitations or if our wish to get married again is possible.
Answer by PaulCyp You cannot “get married again”. You can however have a ceremony called “renewal of marriage vows”.

Question by maryhamm01: If my fiancee and I are both catholic, but want to be married somewhere other than a church, what do we do?
We want to get married either outside or in a hall rather than a church. We’re both Catholic, and it doesn’t matter to him, but I want the Catholic church to still recognize our marriage. What would I need to do for that to happen?
Answer by Songsparrow You just need to find a priest whose willing to perform the wedding outside of the church. Talk to a few priests from your local diocese. Having an outdoor wedding is not that that uncommon, and I’m sure someone in your diocese, if not the priest from your parish, should be able to perform the wedding. There may be other ways, but that’s the simplest way I know to make sure your marriage is recognized.

Eben Emerson, Former Church of Christ Minister in Texas, converted to Catholicism after an interesting and unlikely faith journey. He had previously studied for 8 months at a Bible camp in Lubbuck, TX. It included a course in Catholicism which showed him how to systematically overcome a Catholics’ commitments, due to Catholics’ lack of catechesis (education) and have them easily convert to the Church of Christ faith. He married a Catholic who converted to his faith and now both are very Catholic. Hediscusses a very interesting and unlikely journey on The Journey Home program on EWTN Global Network via satellite and cable TV, Radio and Internet 24/7. Go to www.ewtn.com for schedules.
