Excellent Read,
I found and purchased this book at a local thrift store – God being God, has a sense of humor and this is how it came to be.
I had recently talked to a couple of friends about us starting a home Bible study / house church in my house and setting aside that time for fellowship. We set a date and were going to just simply see where Jesus was leading.
The next day, I was at the thrift store with my husband- and this book (complete with CD and all) literally fell onto my feet! How God like amazing is that?
Long story short, I bought it and read it. This is a great book in that it offers a lot of practical ideas & suggestions. It goes in depth on the Biblical qualifications of leaders etc.
Pros:
Clear & Concise – 90% scripture and maybe 10% opinion
The included CD makes it so easy to print off chapter notes to go along with it
Cons:
Focuses too much on church in the house. What I mean, is they advocate replacing the modern church with house churches- not that there is anything wrong with that, as it is what the New Testament church did; however ; it isn’t for me.
So in conclusion, I recommend this book for anyone doing a home group of any kind. It is an excellent resource for pastors of existing churches who may be starting cell groups etc, or for people not associated with a church that all they do is house church and want to take it to the next level.
