Tension in the Church of The Nativity (Bethlehem) In All Its Glory.

The Church of the Nativity (Arabic: كنيسة المهد‎) in Bethlehem is one of the oldest continuously operating churches in the world. The structure is built over the cave that tradition marks as the birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth, and it is considered sacred by followers of both Christianity and Islam (see Jesus in Islam). The antiquity of this tradition is attested by the Christian apologist Justin Martyr (c. 100 – 165), who noted in his Dialogue with Trypho that the Holy Family had taken refuge in a cave outside of town: Joseph took up his quarters in a certain cave near the village; and while they were there Mary brought forth the Christ and placed Him in a manger, and here the Magi who came from Arabia found Him.(chapter LXXVIII). Origen of Alexandria (185 AD–ca. 254) wrote: In Bethlehem the cave is pointed out where He was born, and the manger in the cave where He was wrapped in swaddling clothes. And the rumor is in those places, and among foreigners of the Faith, that indeed Jesus was born in this cave who is worshipped and reverenced by the Christians. (Contra Celsum, book I, chapter LI). Under the supervision of Bishop Makarios of Jerusalem, the construction started in 327 and was completed in 333. That structure was burnt down in the Samaritan Revolt of 529. The current basilica was rebuilt in its present form

In reality they are all victims of their own actions. Peace will never be achieved until there is an acceptance of The One God and that all faiths come to accept that they do not have any specific right over another to claim that they are superior or chosen. God sees us all equally and to state otherwise is a material calculation only on this earth. When people commit sin they have to reap the reactions and the reactions are perfect because God is perfect and can never make a mistake.

The Basilica includes columns by Justinian I and mosaics by Constantine I. Ten years ago over forty Hamas-Fatah entered the holy site placed explosives and took tourists as hostages. The IDF rescused the tourists, diffused the bombs and after killing a few of the enemy they simply sent the rest 39 to Europe as if they were not guilty. And the Jews are allegedly the agressors and the Palestinians are alegedly the victims.

I quite enjoyed being there and I wasn’t interested in the different religious perspectives. Church of Naivety is a good point but that can apply anywhere and to anyone, even your good self :-) I like the historical factor, I appreciate the devotion that people carry to these places as opposed to those that visit the beach and the shopping malls.

I stand corrected. Text books? I don’t study them, no need with teachers like yourself who find all the faults. As for loving poor punctuation? No, it’s just a bad habit, thank you :-)

“All It’s Glory” instead of the correct “All Its Glory”? “Se’er” instead of the correct “seer”? “Err’s” instead of the correct “errs”? You seem to love poor punctuation and spelling as much as you do simple and honest people. Have you ever considered a textbook on English?
