I am a born again Christian who attends a Baptist church.
We are worlds apart from the false doctrine of the catholic church.

Only lies trace back to them

The truth never traces back to a lie.

Thank God for people like Martin Luther who had the guts enough to expose the catholic church for what it really is: Heresy

Community Leaders Eager to Address Urban Radio Concerns in Chicago Advisory Committee Announced Today

(PRWEB) June 4, 2004

Today in Chicago, community leaders announced the formation of the Community Advisory Committee about Urban Radio. The committee will deal with issues concerning the relationship between the management of urban radio stations and the local community. The committee is looking to meet with the management of WGCI-AM (now renamed WGRB)/FM as soon as possible.

“First we would like to meet with the management of the number one rated radio station in Chicago WGCI, we have concerns that the station’s management has become disconnected from the community, particularly since it unceremoniously let Marv Dyson go. Marv was the leading African-American radio station manager in the nation. We feel that WGCI’s ownership needs to listen more closely to the community,” said Reverend Michael Pfleger, Pastor, Faith Community of Saint Sabina.

“The committee is looking to create a dialogue between radio station owners and our community. Over the past few years ownership of some urban radio stations has changed and we feel this new management has lost touch with the community it serves,” said Rev. James Demus, Executive Director NAACP, Chicago Southside Branch.

“We want station ownership to be responsive to the needs of the community. We are taking this step to ensure that the ownership hears the voices of our community. We want station ownership to be responsive to the needs of the on-air personalities, producers and other staff who work for the various stations. These are the people who come from our community, and we do not want the members of our communities treated like slaves. Clear Channel can not continue to benefit from the fruits of the laborers, and not reward the laborers for their hard work.” said Reverend Reginald Williams, Associate Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ.

Other committee members include Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ, Rev. Leon Finney, president and CEO, Woodlawn Organization, Dr. Conrad Worrill, National Chairman of the National Black United Front

Currently Urban Radio stations in Chicago include V-103 (WVAZ), WGCI AM/FM (Now WGCI-AM is conveniently renamed WGRB) which are owned by Texas-based Clear Channel; and Power 92 WPWX, Soul 106 WSRB owned by Colorado-based Crawford Broadcasting. Only WVON-AM remains a locally – owned and operated Urban Radio station.

The committee will address though a productive dialogue a variety of issues including: community support and involvement; programing; relationship between on air talent and community; treatment of all employees, public service programing; and local music and performers.

You Can Know for yourself Jesus Christ is Alive Today!

You Can Know for yourself Jesus Christ is Alive Today!

Many people today assume that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a legend and not a historical event, but are you aware of certain facts that go against the Resurrection being a myth?

If you’re a skeptic, I want to challenge you to read the rest of this article. Something amazing just might happen to you!

Please consider the following seven points:

1. It takes time for a myth to develop, but belief in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ sprang up instantly.

A myth gradually develops over a period of time as one person after another adds his or her own view to the original story. Thus, it really takes a number of generations for a legend to become stabilized in its final form.

However, in the case of the Resurrection, it happened in a particular place at a particular time in history — in Israel during the rule of Pontius Pilate. Then the news rapidly spread over the entire Roman empire.

2. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ was not hidden in a corner, but there were over 500 credible witnesses of this stupendous event! Many of these people lived for a long time and were available to give their eyewitness accounts of their encounters with the risen Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

One of these witnesses had originally persecuted Christians. He felt it was his God-given duty to eliminate the infant church. This enemy of Christ was Saul of Tarsus, who later had his name changed to Paul. The Lord Jesus Christ appeared to him as he was on his way to Damascus to get legal documents that were needed in order to persecute Christians in that area. Everything changed for Saul when suddenly the Lord Jesus encountered him and changed his whole life.

In our court system today, eyewitnesses are significant to the outcome of a trial. If over 500 eyewitnesses to a murder showed up to give their testimony of what they saw, there would be no doubt as to the outcome of the trial.

3. It’s a well-known fact that Jews do not worship pleural gods. They worship one God instead of many. However, the first church was composed entirely of Jews. What’s so significant about that? Since Jews believe in only one God, the death and resurrection of mythical gods is totally foreign to their way of thinking.

4. There is a strange lack in the Bible of a record of the actual Resurrection event itself. If the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead was a legend, His actual Resurrection would be described in glowing details.

5. Women were the first witnesses of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. However, in that day the testimony of women did not count in courts of law. So why would anyone want to invent a legend when women were the first witnesses and their testimony didn’t even count?

In that day the society was patriarchal. However, in the Resurrection account, the men who were central to the event were hiding because they were so frightened. If the Resurrection is a legend, whoever concocted it made women look like courageous heroes, while the men were portrayed as wimps! This would not have fit in with acceptable societal standards of that day and age.

6. The first appearance of Jesus Christ to one of his followers, Mary Magdalene, was not described in superlative terms. In fact, when Mary first saw Jesus, she assumed He was a gardener and didn’t even recognize Him! If the Resurrection is a myth, the description of the legendary death-overcoming hero would have been written in a much more dramatic way. As you are aware from watching movies and reading about Greek and Roman gods, the stories glorify these supposedly superhuman characters.

The Gospel accounts lack the essential elements of describing a mythical superhero.

However, the New Testament records what actually happened.

7. Would the entirely Jewish original church have wanted to worship as their Messiah a crucified criminal?

Something tremendously impressive must have happened to cause those Jews to follow to the death someone who was considered by Rome to be an enemy of the state!

An event of monumental proportions did occur! Jesus of Nazareth rose from the dead!

The Resurrection does not quality as a myth because it sprang up instantly and there was no time for a legend to develop. Over 500 eyewitnesses encountered the living Christ and were on hand to tell of their experiences. The original church was entirely Jewish and Jews don’t believe in more than one God. Why would Saul, who later became known as Paul, give up everything — including his life — to preach the Gospel when he had been the chief persecutor of the first Christians? Why would thousands of believers be willing to be martyred for a lie? These early believers were thrown to the lions, covered with oil and lit as human torches to light up Caesar’s garden at night, and met other cruel deaths.

The Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth from the dead is a historical fact. Many people through the centuries have been encountering the living Christ! As a result, their lives have been transformed. Those who trust Him receive the gift of eternal life… plus joy and peace in this present life — no matter what problems they face.

What about you? You can meet the living Savior too!

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Former NFL Pro Turned Pastor to Address the RNC on Character Today

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 2, 2008

Miles McPherson, a former NFL defensive back with the San Diego Chargers who is now senior pastor of The Rock Church, one of the largest and fastest growing churches in the United States, has been asked to address the Republican National Convention Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, on “Character: Doing the Right Thing When No One Is Looking.”

McPherson, 48, is known for encouraging people of faith to “DO Something” for God. In 2000 McPherson founded the Rock Church, San Diego County’s largest Christian congregation. It draws an average of 10,000 worshipers each Sunday.

“This is an honor and a rare opportunity to serve my country,” said McPherson, who was introduced to the Republican National Convention organizers by Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church. “I believe God has given me a message of encouragement and conviction to call people to righteousness, no matter what their political affiliation.”

McPherson added that speaking at the RNC should not be interpreted as partisan. “I have not been asked to nor will I endorse anyone or anything but a godly character,” he said.

McPherson’s professional football career ran from 1982 to 1985. After committing his life to Jesus Christ, he was freed of an addiction to cocaine and worked for many years as an inspirational speaker and youth pastor prior to founding the Rock Church.

He also founded Miles Ahead, an outreach organization through which he has spoken to millions at crusades, conferences, and church gatherings from Canada to Africa. Miles Ahead and nearly 300 volunteers spent 10 days in Jamaica in April and May, bringing to that Caribbean country more than million in medical services, equipment and products.

The Rock Church, known for its multicultural and innovative worship and community service, just celebrated one year in a new home at San Diego’s former naval training center. Its refurbished 210,000-square-foot complex features a high-tech sanctuary that seats 3,500; an accredited K-12 Rock Academy; a full-service book store; and other modern additions. Rock volunteers participate in more than 4,000 volunteer positions, supporting 60 ministries, from drug recovery to martial arts, from working with the homeless to providing home repair.

McPherson said speaking at the RNC should not be interpreted as partisan. “I have not been asked to nor will I endorse anyone or anything but a godly character,” he said.

Besides being an author of six books, McPherson also is an Emmy Award winning producer for the documentary Master Meth, which examines the abuse of crystal methamphetamine.

He has been married to Debbie McPherson for 24 years. They have three children and live in San Diego.
