Upon This Rock: St. Peter and the Primacy of Rome in Scripture and the Early Church (Modern Apologetics Library)

Upon This Rock: St. Peter and the Primacy of Rome in Scripture and the Early Church (Modern Apologetics Library)

As an Evangelical Protestant, Stephen Ray realized that the real issue dividing Catholics and Protestants was authority. Everything else was secondary to the issue of authority. Protestants accept the authority of the Bible alone, whereas Catholics understand the authority to be residing in the Magisterium, the Scriptures and the Sacred Tradition. Ray goes through the Scriptures and writings from the first five centuries of the early Church to demonstrate that the early Christians had a clear understanding of the primacy of Peter in the See of Rome. He tackles the tough issues in an attempt to expose how the opposition is misunderstanding the Scriptures and history. He uses many Evangelical Protestant scholars and historians to support the Catholic position. This book contains the most complete compilation of Scriptural and Patristic quotations on the primacy of Peter and the Papal office of any book currently available.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THE CHURCH OF ROME: THE CURSE OF A DIFFERENT GOSPEL (GALATIANS 1:6-9)

Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater (YouTube channel CANSWERSTV; websites: BIBLEQUERY.ORG, HISTORYCART.COM & MUSLIMHOPE.COM) presents another broadcast of his radio program “Christian Answers Live!” hosted by Lee Meckley. The special guest for this broadcast is James G. McCarthy, founder & director of “Good News for Catholics, Inc.” (website: GNFC.ORG) & author of the book, “The Gospel According to Rome: Comparing Catholic Tradition & the Word of God.” James is a former Roman Catholic & is best known for directing & producing the popular video “Catholicism: Crisis of Faith.” The Catholic Church presupposes itself to be Christian. Nothing could be farther from the truth; yet, the Catholic Church has presented and promoted herself in that guise particularly since the close of the Second Vatican Council in 1965. A primary, non-negotiable goal of Vatican Council II was to lay the groundwork and to establish the rules and parameters for a multifaceted, ecumenical outreach. Evangelical Christians, now called “separated brethren”, rather than “heretics”,1 are the primary target of Catholic ecumenism. The goal is to draw them into the Roman Catholic fold.2 Thus, in the 1994 Catechism of the Catholic Church, the word “Christian” occurs more than 100 times in these official teachings. Buzzwords such as “dialogue”, “ecumenism”, and “social justice” are being used under the guise of promoting true Christianity while advancing the Roman

“New Exodus of Protestants Coming Home to Rome” Part 1 of 2

Since 1998, we have seen the first signs of an avalanche of conversions and re-conversions. This year 2009 over 150000 joined the Roman Catholic Church, an increased of 80000 from last year who converted to the Catholic Church in the US alone. In 1998, more than 88000 Protestants were received into the Catholic Church (and more than 73000 adults were baptized, many of them from Protestant backgrounds) and the Protestants [now] coming into the Church are the most devoted Protestants, people deeply committed to Scripture and prayer. What accounts for this Protestant exodus at the twilight of the 20th century?
