What are some ideas for church lock ins?

Question by Savannah 🙂: What are some ideas for church lock ins?
My church is a pretty small church with practicly no youth group. I was going to invite people and bring up the subject to the youth leader. There is a big tv and game tables. I was wondering what would be some fun interesting ideas for the lock in? Not to mention the youth leader is pretty boring. I need your ideas to fun stuff to do all night.

Song ideas for a girl with a medium low range?

Question by Ophelia: Song ideas for a girl with a medium low range?
I am planning to enter one of my school’s more prestigious talent shows, but its not one of those that anyone can enter, you have to try out to be in the show. Singing is my strong point, but my comfortable range is pretty low. I need a really solid, good song to enter in this audition. Genre wise, I’m thinking soft core jazz or r&b. Something up beat, nothing slow. I love those songs where you can really wail, in other words, no church music, something with soul and a good beat. Any ideas would be really helpful.

Do a era theme. The things they were doing and listening to in 1940/50’s type thing. Were all her friends and family dress up like when they were teenagers. Have everyone donate pictures and have them blown up. Did this for my mom and they all had a complete blast. Poodle skirts and saddle oxford shoes and we had a Elvis the pelvis( that’s what they called him… ??) cake.

Yes, there is those people!

There is a Liberty Baptist church in just about every state in the union; several in the bigger ones.

The one in Prescott, Arizona says

Liberty Baptist Church of Prescott, Arizona is the only Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Church in Prescott, Arizona. We preach from the King James Bible – only. Traditional Hymns, reverent services and church the way it once was.

I’m guessing is anyone there agrees with the liberated christians, he’s keeping his head down.

Since the KJV was written in Elizabethan English, they are all going to ace their Shakespear courses or they are misunderstanding their lessons. Hard to tell which at this distance.

What are good ideas for church nursery activities?

Question by Sara P: What are good ideas for church nursery activities?
I’m starting a nursery class at my church for newborns to 2 years old. I was looking for some ideas on what to do with the kids. I have a 2 year old and a newborn so I sorta have an idea of what the kids will be able to do. My pastor is going to order some materials but that will take a few weeks and I want to start the class this Sunday. Right now my only ideas are to make coloring sheets with the alphabet and a picture that goes with it (A is for Angel, B is for Bible, etc) and to read Bible stories. Any other ideas?

I have been in the same situation as you. (and I admit it is not easy!) I want to stress though what you should make as your foundation. It is easy to get yourself distracted by too many activities and to get off track. Make sure that your focus is to minister to these children! Even though they are young, they are impressionable and what they are taught as a youngster really stays with them as they grow. I would devote some of the time in each service to sing praise with simple phrases that explain God’s character, but are easy to follow along with. I am actually going to get back into this ministry soon again myself and if you want to connect with me I’d be all for it. That way we can bounce ideas off each other! 🙂
P.S. Good Luck!

Ideas for decorating a round/hexagonal church?

Question by dlb_blair: Ideas for decorating a round/hexagonal church?
Does anyone have any ideas and/or pictures for how to decorate a church that is hexagonal with chairs instead of pews. The church has a very high ceiling with a skylight and several walls of windows, with a wooden railing for under lighting above each window. Please help; any ideas are really appreciated.

Don’t worry too much about the surroundings. Concentrate your decorating efforts to where you and your groom will be standing as you take your vows. That’s the only place people will actually be looking, anyway. Candelabra stands and floral arrangements on pedestals are beautiful. Attach large tulle bows to the sides of the chairs on the aisles if you think you need them and maybe add a couple of flowers to the bows on the front row bows.

Your reception decorations will be viewed for a much longer time than the ceremony’s. Put your money and energy into those, instead.
