old icelandic church

Viðimýrarkirkja in Skagafjörður was built 1834, it is one of the best example of the old Icelandic architecture.
Víðimýri was a main site of the chieftain’s of the Ásbirningar clan. Around year 1200 it was the home of Kolbeinn Tumason who is now mostly remembered as the author of a beautiful hymn frequently sung to a modern tune.
