At ease

Chairs piled up outside the little church of Agios Dimitrios below Filopappou hill in Athens. There was a wedding in the church, which was completely cleared of everything except icons and incense when we got there – and a party was going on in the courtyard, with a table full of neatly bagged and labelled dragees waiting for the guests (they’re always given away at weddings and baptisms, and one of the shops on Ermou has a wickedly tempting selection).
