The Purpose Driven Church: Every Church Is Big in God’s Eyes

  • The Purpose Driven Church

‘The Purpose Driven Church has brought focus and direction to more pastors and church leaders than you can count. What a gift!’—John Ortberg, bestselling author Every church is driven by something. Tradition, finances, programs, personalities, events, seekers, and even buildings can each be the controlling force in a church. But Rick Warren believes that in order for a church to be healthy it must become a purpose-driven church, built around the five New Testament purposes given to the church by Jesus. ‘The issue is church health, not church growth!’ declares Warren. ‘If your church is healthy, growth will occur naturally. Healthy, consistent growth is the result of balancing the five biblical purposes of the church.’ Rick Warren shares a proven five-part strategy that will enable your church to grow * warmer through fellowship * deeper through discipleship * stronger through worship * broader through ministry * larger through evangelism The Purpose Driven Church shifts the focus away from church building programs to emphasizing a people-building process. Warren says, ‘If you will concentrate on building people, God will build the church.’The thesis of The Purpose Driven Church is that when churches think first about their health, growth is sure to follow. “If your church is healthy,” writes Rick Warren, “growth will occur naturally. Healthy, consistent growth is the result of balancing the five biblical purposes of the church.” These five purposes are to “Love the Lord with all your heart,” “Love your neighbor as yourself,” “Go and make disciples,” “[Baptize] them,” and “[Teach] them to obey.” And those purposes can only be accomplished, argues Warren, when church leaders stop thinking about church-building programs and shift their focus to a “people-building process” involving fellowship, discipleship, worship, and evangelism. Warren, the founder of the fastest-growing Baptist church in American history, has taught seminars to thousands of pastors from all over the world, many of whom have successfully implemented his techniques.

How to Grow Your Church (The Willow Creek / Purpose Driven Way)

Please listen to pastor david wilkerson’s warning about this movement as well: A simple video message explaining the danger of the current church growth movement. AKA The Purpose Driven or Willow Creek Association method. If you suspect your church is ‘up the creek’ go to willow creek association website and go to find a church and you see if your church is listed. That’s how i found out about my former church. Also search the willow creek assoc or website and see if “your pastor’s message” is there( they download and share sermons). They usually use the latest TV Show(ie “Extreme” this or that, “Desperate Housewives”) or current movie to “relate” to their audience. For further study, I recommend reading John MacArthur’s book: “Ashamed of the Gospel: When the Church Becomes like the World” . My findings are not based on what others have told me about these movements. I was part of 2 seeker friendly churches and witnessed firsthand the problems. I’ve already read Warren’s books the purpose driven church and purpose driven life and have read their teachings in the context.. I also recommend listening to, or reading the text of the sermons titled “The Gospel of Accommodation”, “Falling Away to the Anti-Christ, and “Beware of the Wisdom of Men” preached by David Wilkerson and Carter Conlon. Each of these is available online for free. Try Greg Gordon’s sermon index website. “..the time will come when men will not put up with sound

Church Growth Software Offers A Purpose Driven Church Management Software

(PRWEB) December 22, 2004

Church Growth Software was developed in 1998 with input of several different pastors and church planters utilizing either the Purpose-Driven or Willow Creek ministry models. It was set out to be designed as a comprehensive system that not only provided pastors and administrators with timely decision making information, but that also automated the essential aspects of these two effective ministry models.

Now working together with HPC Business Consultants, a church business consulting firm, they are improving this software to make it easier to manage church growth. Yearly updates include many of the requests existing customers make throughout the year.

Here is a remark from a church:

Thanks for getting us up and going with the software. We’ve added about 40 visitors to our list in the last few weeks. Our new comer’s visitation is really working out now that we are able to track each family better.
