Do a Google or yellow pags search in your area for “contract furniture” or “institutional furniture”. Don’t expect it to be very inexpensive. Compared to furniture for a family home, items for a church or youth center or other public usage are have to be made to withstand more abuse and heavy usage
The best way to get quality items for a good price is to find a place that sells used and reconditioned institutional furniture — they often get it from businesses or hotels that have shut down or that have remodeled. Look up “used office furniture” to find local dealers.
If there is a ReStore in your city (the recycled furniture and building supply outlets of the Habitats for Humanity homebuilders organization) they are often a great source for such items. The one in my town recently had dozens of modern upholstered couches, chairs, coffee and end tables and well as some really cool work station-like desks. Some could have used new fabric covering but you can pay to have that replaced pretty reasonably at upholstery shops. And the sofas were only $ 30 and the chairs were $ 10 so even paying for new fabric would have made them a bargain.
Also, if there is an IKEA store in your region they have very inexpensive and modern stylish furnishings. Some of their cheapest styles might not hold up to a lot of abuse, however.
