Is it true that Barack Obama is a member of Trinity Church of Christ and is based on the black value system?

Question by sandra c: Is it true that Barack Obama is a member of Trinity Church of Christ and is based on the black value system?
I received several emails pertaining to this with the website to the church and need to know if this is true. I don’t care what religion, sex, or race our next president is as long as they are not participating with a racist organization.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) February 25, 2010

Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., pastor emeritus of the historic Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois, releases his new book on February 25, 2010, titled, “A Sankofa Moment: The History of Trinity United Church of Christ.” “A Sankofa Moment” gives the 48-year history of the Trinity United Church of Christ with a major emphasis on the building of the largest United Church of Christ congregation within the denomination that developed several ministries and several entities under the pastorate of Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.

“A Sankofa Moment” refers to the following:

The Akan people of Africa have an important symbol known as Sankofa. It is expressed in the Asante Adinkra symbols as a bird whose body is heading in one direction, but whose head is turned in the opposite direction. What the symbol is teaching is that we cannot go forward without first going back to our past to understand how it is we got to where we are (Introduction, pg. 17).

This fascinating read will be released on February 25, 2010 by St. Paul Press. Be sure to get a copy and be sure to tell family and friends.

The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. is a man of faith, a homiletic genius, a theological scholar and a pastor’s pastor. He is a family man who enjoys spending quality time with his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Dr. Wright is Pastor Emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Gardner C. Taylor, the “Dean of Black Preaching”, had this to say as the Center for African American Theological Studies inaugurated its Annual Lecture in honor of Dr. Wright:

“People who love the Lord and who embrace the noblest concepts of our democracy will enthusiastically applaud the establishment of the Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Lectureship. The Lectureship appropriately salutes the Pastor and mentor who prepared President Barack Obama for the role of President of the United States.

“Mr. Obama had hardly any grasp of the meaning of being a Black person in the United States. By example and exhortation, Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., cured that deficiency, sending to Washington a President qualified to give America a chance to actually become a democracy!”

Barack Obama Finds a New Church to Replace Trinity United Church of Christ according to Obama2.com

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 4, 2008

Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, wrote a letter to Trinity United Church of Christ’s new pastor, Reverend Otis Moss III, to announce their resignation from the church on May 30, 2008, according to Obama2.com.

The following day, Senator Obama commented on his decision to leave his church of 20 years.

The decision was in no small part due to controversial and offensive remarks made by Obama’s close friends and spiritual advisers, longtime Trinity pastor Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. and Father Michael Pfleger.

“It was going to be very difficult to continue our membership there as long as I was running for President. The recent episode with Father Pfleger just reinforced the view that we don’t want to have to answer for everything that’s stated in a church,” commented Obama.

“On the other hand, we also don’t want a church subjected to the scrutiny that a presidential campaign legitimately undergoes,” continued Barack Obama.

When Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. assumed leadership of Trinity in 1972, he steered the church toward Black Liberation Theology.

Black Liberation Theology is centered on the liberation of African-Americans from white oppression.

The Obamas are now members of the Church of Liberalism.
