What are good ideas for church nursery activities?

Question by Sara P: What are good ideas for church nursery activities?
I’m starting a nursery class at my church for newborns to 2 years old. I was looking for some ideas on what to do with the kids. I have a 2 year old and a newborn so I sorta have an idea of what the kids will be able to do. My pastor is going to order some materials but that will take a few weeks and I want to start the class this Sunday. Right now my only ideas are to make coloring sheets with the alphabet and a picture that goes with it (A is for Angel, B is for Bible, etc) and to read Bible stories. Any other ideas?

I have been in the same situation as you. (and I admit it is not easy!) I want to stress though what you should make as your foundation. It is easy to get yourself distracted by too many activities and to get off track. Make sure that your focus is to minister to these children! Even though they are young, they are impressionable and what they are taught as a youngster really stays with them as they grow. I would devote some of the time in each service to sing praise with simple phrases that explain God’s character, but are easy to follow along with. I am actually going to get back into this ministry soon again myself and if you want to connect with me I’d be all for it. That way we can bounce ideas off each other! 🙂
P.S. Good Luck!

Looking for some good, clean fun on the computer? My Book of Mormon Activity CD-ROM by Val Chadwick Bagley is the answer-for the whole family! Young children will love the fun and wasy-to-use coloring program that lets them color over a dozen Book of Mormon images on the computer, or print them out for Church or other activities. Or there’s the interactive matching game based on the popular ‘Choose the Right’ playing cards. Teenagers and even adults will have fun with the word search program that can generate dozens of puzzles-from extra easy to really hard.

This package also includes a variety of print and play activity pages that will keep the kids busy for hours during family trips or those ‘boring’ afternoons at home. Even better, there’s nothing to install! Just insert the CD-ROM in your Windows computer and wait for the fun to start!

Should I list church/spiritual activities as community service in my college application?

Question by sugar1973: Should I list church/spiritual activities as community service in my college application?
I’m very much involved with a yoga meditation center where I live–I do public speaking, organize programs, etc. Is that worth listing for graduate colleges to see?

YES! Colleges are looking for students that are well engulfed in the community. Think of it as the military, the college is looking to recruit YOU to represent them as a (insert mascot name here). List all community service you do, details, and how many hours a week or month.
