St. Monica’s to mark its 100th year
St. Monica’s, the Kansas City area’s first Catholic congregation established for blacks, is celebrating its 100th anniversary next weekend. It was founded Oct. 2, 1910, as a “mission church and school for the education in religion and secular knowledge of Colored People.”
