Pieterskerk: The pulpit

Today I went cycling through Leiden again. It was really quiet since it was Sunday afternoon. I made a stop at the Pieterskerk (Peter’s church), and shot some pictures there.
The first record of a church at this spot dates from 1121, but the current building was build between 1390 and 1572. In that period Leiden grew due to the wool and cloth industry. And until 1550 it was bigger even than Amsterdam.
The pulpit is carved in late gothic style in 1532.
