How Great are the Big Mega Churches of God?
How Great are the Big Mega Churches of God?
Written by Joseph Ho, 3rd July 2010
Have you not heard of this sentence, “Filling a church with people means nothing if lives are not transformed.”? God told us that many blind guides will come and lead the people astray even the elites will be fooled. The Kingdom of God is real very real and it affects whatever happens on earth and our daily life. When God was with Joseph, he had dreams sent by God to foretell future events that will happen to him. Joseph was really called and gone through God’s training to become the person whom God wants him to be. God’s training for a person is as real as anything inclusive of pain, misery, injustice, lies, accusation, frame ups, jealousy and the wickedness in peoples hearts are all real manifestations of Evil which makes up the training ingredients.
God promised to write his laws into our hearts and the way to do that is to bring that person into all these wickedness and yet teaching them how to trust him, by that I meant the real pit type experience. And believe me its not one year or two years, it could be more than 10 years. The longer the training, the greater the heights of achievement planned for that person. God is a real God so he will bring about your character formation to be a big wholesome man. We all have to let go and let God come into our lives to form our Godlike nature which he has preordained before the creation of this world. Every human being that has been born is a plan of God, and no one can be born without his permission. So everyone who is alive today is a creation of the Almighty God himself. Nothings can exists without the will of God, nothing.
Colossians 1:16-20 (New International Version)
16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Yet what the church symbolizes today is nothing more than filling the seats and filling their banks accounts. They preach what is important for Church growth and not real transformation. In real transformation, shepherds will need to do what Jesus has done for his disciples, the leader has to pastor and guide them by being with them all the time. Showing by examples and leading the life as preached. Imagine telling the people to sacrifice their priced personal belongings to seed to God while they themselves drive BMWs is certainly not a good example to set. Jesus did what he preached. But he told us to do what the Pharisees preached but not to follow what they do in reality.
“Telling people to give until it hurts while they themselves live in two condos and laughed all the way to the bank is not good theology.” Joseph Ho
Nowadays the Mega Churches preached what they don’t do. Jesus never built a single physical church during his life time, he never drove a BMW(although some creative preachers tried to explain that a donkey is a BMW at that time), he certainly did not have a huge Citi bank account, nor did he played the Yamaha guitar and sang with an Orix microphone. And Jesus never sang a single song in the bible. He moved from places to places and would eat whatever the people gave, he never asked for any type of food to be served to him. He did not even have a Condo or a Bungalow to live in, foxes have holes but the son of man does not have a place to rest his head. Yet he could raised the dead, heal the sick and cause the blind to see. What real power he manifested yet charging the people nothing for his miracles. What a mighty God we serve indeed?
Today, these preachers have to push people down to fake the slain and asked people to believe by blind faith for their healings which never took place, and to trust in God for their finances when the church is loaded with reserve cash. Yet their membership fees are 10% of your monthly salary, what a big difference from the way Jesus did his ministry indeed. We get more value for money when Jesus was around compared to these Christ wannabes, with all talk but no power. Try getting some help from these churches when you need some real money and see if they would only pray for you while they have the ability to help they would not help. They showed God needs your money but will not help you when you need money. That’s not like my God and Father who cares for the poor and the widows.
Jesus showed that God is real and would take care of what he needs and he would do the work of God without sending letters to potential donors to send help in the form of money. Jesus never had to conduct a multi-purpose fund raising campaign. God is Almighty and he do not need our help, if he wanted any help he could even influence Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to favor Daniel, or even King Cyrus to help rebuilt the temple of God. God can touch anyone and caused them to serve him willingly or not.
The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.
The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in real transformation which in return begets a change of actions (Luke 3:8-14; Acts 3:19). They that repented turned from their wicked ways and walked in obedience to the ways of the Lord.
Acts 26:20 (New International Version)
20First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.
Wicked ways means ways that are not approved by God. Wicked ways does not mean breaking the laws of God alone, it refers to something which God did not agreed for us to do. Wickedness in the eyes of God means going against his will in our life. It also means going against God’s righteousness, not man made righteousness. So being self righteous would be wicked in the eyes of the Lord our God. Taking revenge because someone wronged us would be wicked in the eyes of the Lord our God, because it is ego driven by pride and our own sense of justice, this is also wickedness to our God. God’s righteousness is not man-made righteousness nor are the ways of man the same with the ways of the Almighty God. Even when someone did us wrong and God instructs us to forgive them but we do not, is also wicked in the eyes of God; because we disobeyed his direct will in this matter. In short, going against the wishes of God is wicked. Direct will refers to when God speaks into your life while indirect will means whatever the bible commands us to do.
Today, most Christians can not be differentiated from non Christians since they no longer need to follow any rules or regulation because their sins are all forgiven, past, future as claimed by certain sects of the Christian faith. All sins will result in consequences, and these consequences will lead to death, because these sects also preached that there is now no condemnation in Christ. There is no condemnation in Christ only when you walk in the Spirit and not the flesh. But the truth is not many so called Christians are Spirit filled, if they were truly Spirit filled, they would know that whatever is being preached in not true since the Holy Spirit is a Spirit of Truth. But what they preached is only half truth, the complete statements in the bible are:
Romans 8 (King James Version)
1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
In conclusion, if your life is not transformed by your future actions which came about because you have a the Spirit of Christ in you then what is the full point of being part of a Big Big Church, it means nothing. And if you are still living in your old ways then what has God done for you, nothing. Thus, it really really really means you are not Spirit-Filled at all. Jesus is the only one who can baptize and fill you with the Holy Spirit. And there is no condemnation only when you walk in the Spirit and not your own ways.
Being a Christian means you are to walk in the full ways commanded by God as written in the bible, you can not pick and choose and interpret what you think it should be or not. The Interpretation belongs to the ones who are filled with the Spirit of Christ, since they are the ones whom God has chosen to reveal himself. No one else can interpret a book written
