Boston’s First Baptist (or Brattle Square) Church is a historic H.H. Richardson design. It was built in 1872 as a Unitarian church before the Baptists later moved in and is apparently a significant early work of Richardson’s. It is also prominently visible from across the Charles River, the location from which I first noticed the building. Frederic Bartholdi, designer of the Statue of Liberty, did the tower reliefs.
