Tens of thousands of people of faith and immigration reform supporters from coast to coast gathered on the National Mall in Washington, DC to demonstrate their support for the immigration and refugee reform bill that will soon go to Congress. Odyssey Networks is providing exclusive video coverage of the ‘March for America: Change Takes Courage’ immigration rally at www.odysseynetworks.org. The rally followed the Ecumenical Advocacy Days, an annual event sponsored by a coalition of Christian groups, including the National Council of the Churches of Christ, Church World Service, Holy Name Province-Franciscan Action Network, and others.
Rev. Eric C. Shafer, Senior Vice President of Philanthropy and Faith Community Relations for Odyssey did video interviews of notable immigration and refugee reform activists from diverse faith groups and organizations regarding their hopes for the upcoming bill.
The interviews included Rev. Gabriel Salguero, immigration reform activist, pastor and executive member of the Latino Leadership Circle and director of the Hispanic Leadership Program at Princeton Theological Seminary; Linda Hartke, President & CEO of Lutheran Immigrant and Refugee Services; Syed Imam Nagvi, Chairman and Founder of the Islamic Information Center and resident scholar of the Jaferia Islamic Center; David Leslie, Chair of the Ecumenical Task Force on Immigration for National Council of Churches and Church World Service; Jen Smyers, Associate for Immigration and Refugee Policy for Church World Service; Gideon Aronoff, President& CEO of Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society; Sister Mary McCauley, a longtime immigration reform activist, and Bishop Minerva Carcano, United Methodist.
