Ephesians 2 8-9 Commentary

Ephesians 2 8-9 Commentary

Ephesians 2 8-9 Commentary – We will make clear the meaning of this powerful, fascinating verse of scripture.  But first, lets quote it as written by the Apostle Paul: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

One of the biggest misconception with Christianity is that in order to be in right standing with God, one must do something pleasing to God’s eyes.  Whether that be feeding the poor, giving money to charities, driving the elderly to grocery stores, serving in a church, etc.  I think you get the point.

Ehesians 2 8-9 Commentary is saying that a person is only saved from his or her sins by the grace of God (His unmerited favor) through faith in Jesus death, burial and resurrection.  If a lost sinner truly believes with all of his heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary for the remission of his sins, and was buried, and rose from the dead he shall be saved according to Romans 10 9 KJV.

Good works, in God’s eyes, are never considered good until one first have a personal relationship with God.  And the only possible way a person could have a relationship with God is to first receive Jesus Christ into their heart as Lord and Savior.  Only then will God consider those things mentioned above as good works.  Everything else, God says you are trying to establish your own form of righteousness or your own way of getting to heaven.  God says that doesn’t work.  He views such actions as filthy rags according to Isaiah 64 6 KJV.

Man (mankind) must approached God on His terms, and the only way man can approach God is to first have a personal relationship with His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Man can’t work his way into heaven, Ephesian 2 8-9 commentary makes that crystal clear.  Man must first go to the cross at Calvary, where Jesus bled and died for our sins and ask Jesus Christ to come into his heart and save him from his sins.
