Do you go to Church?
Written by Bro. Josh Sparks.
Praise the Name of Jesus our soon coming King and Redeemer.
As I have stood in the homes of many of the customers I service in the particular industry I am employed in; so many of the wonderful people have asked me this very popular question. Do you go to church? After that the second most famous question is are you a christian? Seems to me theses dear wonderful kind hearted people are asking the questions out of order. First they should ask if I have been born again and second where do you assemble? I usually answer their question by stating for the record that the brick building where the church assembles is not the church, and will never be the church. I have been banned from many pulpits for talking against God’s Holy building. Seems to me so often we put more work into our buildings then we do our people and the work of the Kingdom. I had a group who assembled in a building many years ago, under this same mindset, get stiff necked and hard hearted towards me because I told them God’s feelings would not be hurt if the doors to the building they worshipped in were shut forever. I stand by that statement today and will preach and declare that until the day I take my last breathe.
So many then quote the inspired words of wisdom and knowledge given by the Apostle Paul in ( Hebrews 10:25 NKJV) not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. One thing my wife and I do not fail to do and that is to assemble ourselves with those of like precious faith and we exhort each other to gather more and more together and to edify each other to prepare ourselves for the coming tribulation and the second coming of Jesus Christ. We meet to preach God’s Word, to Worship in spirit and truth and to praise of God and to learn of Him who is ever revealing Himself to His Church.
What does the word “Church” really mean? The word Church comes from the Greek word Ekkl?sia those called out or separated from the world to live holy and godly and to be a godly example. The church has never been referenced as a brick and mortar building and never will be and all who teach this I reply to you as did Jesus when His disciples gave Him the tour of the Temple in (Matthew 24) see ye not all these things there wont be a stone left upon another that wont be cast down. Your man made hand made temples and buildings will be destroyed along with the doctrine of Babylon, or confusion. The book of Revelation calls the modern day spirit that calls itself Christianity mystery Babylon or mystery confusion and so many are confused today. The Lord spoke some very powerful truths to us and in the coming weeks and months we will be discussing the Worship service today and compare it with the worship we find in the Word of God. Also we will look at such man made doctrines as having in our meeting houses altars and pictures of Jesus and images of worship. We will also be discussing the mystery Babylon teaching of the Pastor being the highest calling in the church, even though there is no New Testament proof of one man being a Pastor over a group of saints but Elders (Plural) were called to oversee God’s Kingdom.
Below I am posting several scriptures that prove the church is not a human building but a Holy building made up of men and women, boys and girls that meet in many different places all over the world; God’s true Ekklesia (Ecclesia) His Church His building built upon the rock of the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16:17-19 (New King James Version) 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Acts 2:46-47 (New King James Version)46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church[a] daily those who were being saved.
Acts 8 :1-3 (New King James Version)1 Now Saul was consenting to his death.
At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison.
Acts 9:30-31 (New King James Version)30When the brethren found out, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him out to Tarsus.31 Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
Acts 11:21-23 (New King James Version)21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
22 Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. 23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.
Acts 11:26 (New King James Version)26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
Acts 12:1 (New King James Version)1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church.
Acts 12:5 (New King James Version)5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
Acts 15:4 (New King James Version) 4 And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them.
Acts 15:41 (New King James Version) 41And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.
Acts 20:28 (New King James Version) Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
The list of scriptural references goes on and on. I will close with these very powerful and God Inspired Words penned down by the APostle Paul concerning the Lord’s Church, His People, clearly not a building made with hands but a spiritual house that becomes a holy habitation or dwelling place for God’s Spirit.
Ephesians 2:20-22 (New King James Version) 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
1 Peter 2: 8 -10 (New King James Version) 8 and “ A stone of stumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Truly the church, God’s People are His Temple and His building where He desires to dwell. Not in temples made with mans hands. All who preach this has fallen into the clutches of mystery Babylon and will never be part of building up God’s Kingdom nor will they grow with the body to be a habitation for the Spirit of God until they come out of Babylon(confusion) and serve the True and Living God. May God’s peace be with you this Sabbath as we worship God in spirit and truth.
