This and That- April 11
Let's dig in with a long overdue update of This and That. For those of you thinking I went on a relaxing vacations, I wish that was case. However, my development team and I have been busy at work putting the final touches on the new Church Report Election Tracker- soon to be released along with a weekly newsletter to keep you up to date on the 2008 election.
Don Imus, what can I say? What if someone called him a leather-faced wanna-be cowboy? Seriously, he must be the only person in Manhattan wearing a cowboy hat and no one makes jabs at him. Imus should be shown the door, no question about it. Being in the media does not give anyone the right to be irresponsible and disperse his brand of racist and sexist oral diarrhea.Rumor has it that more immigration marches will take place in May. Since voter registration did not work last time I wonder what spin will be this time? I agree we need reform, but should we allow illegal immigrants to take the streets to protest?
I was a bit shocked at the news that Mitt Romney would be delivering the commencement address next month at Regent University. I continue to be puzzled by the lack of concern from Christian leaders who have not yet voiced their concerns about Romney's Mormonism. James Dobson made headlines when he challenged a possible GOP candidate last month about this faith- why not open a discussion with Romney about his?
Did any of you see the CNN pieces that ran recently on What is a Christian? Most of it was frightening and I was disappointed that so many liberal guests who described their "interpretations" of the Bible.
As many of you know, I am a baseball enthusiast. Stats, players, hot dogs, the whole nine yards. I wanted to point out a tremendous story happening in Cincinnati with the Reds. Josh Hamilton, the former 1999 1st pick overall out of high school who had been banished by MLB for a series of drug problems, is in the big leagues and last night he not not only started his first game, but got his first hit- a home run. Josh credits his grandmother and his wife for helping him find the answers to his problems and bringing him to the Lord. You will see more about Josh Hamilton in a coming issue of The Church Report.
Dr. Richard Land has a new book out called, The Divided States of America. It is a great read and I encourage everyone who sees the flaws in our political process to pickup a copy.
