Edwards Hires a F$&^#*(&*'-N Blogger

The Edwards for President campaign has a problem on their hands- and it has nothing to do with swiftboat veterans- the problem is a woman named Amanda Marcotte.

Marcotte, along with a few of her far-left extremists, has published a blog called, Pandagon for some time. This week, the Edwards campaign, in an effort to reach more potential voters, put Marcotte on staff.

Amanda Marcotte, among other things is an anti-Christian, anti-Catholic, pro-abortion zealot. Some of her ramblings on Pandagon, like this example on Catholics and the Plan B pill, "Q: What if Mary had taken Plan B after the Lord filled her with his hot, white, sticky Holy Spirit? A: You'd have to justify your misogyny with another ancient mythology." are truly disgusting. In another instance, she glibly remarks that religious conservatives should "keep your nose of out of our britches, our beds and our families."

Heard enough? In case you think this is the most outrageous thing you have ever heard, there is more: on discussing wooing conservative voters away from the Republicans and to the Democrats, Miss Marcotte has this to say, "Voters who are motivated by misogyny, homophobia, and racism aren't going to leave a racist, misogynist, homophobic party for one that is all those things but just less so.

On the crucifixion, Miss Marcotte says this:"The paradox was this. How can anybody look at the figure of Christ on the cross and think that's anything but a condemnation of torture? For the thinking person, it clearly is. But for the fundamentalist, that image creates anxiety about death and makes them cling to their hierarchical values even more."

And finally one of my favorites, "The favorite defense of religion, even the more odious Bible-thumping kinds, is that it's a great source of charity and has a positive overall impact on society. I'm skeptical, particularly for reasons like the above where the actual behavior of religious people, particularly the hardcore ones, demonstrates a pattern of using religious charity as a way to bolster tribalism."

In her profanity-laced writings (which have been deleted for this column-but readily available on her site) she also targets Christian leaders such as Tony Perkins ,Rod Parsley, Rick Scarborough, and Donald Wildmon where she refers to James Dobson's Pro-Family Group as, "focus on the anus."

Edwards, a self-proclaimed Christian, specifically, a Southern Baptist, should be offended by this blather and even more upset with his staff for their utter lack of due diligence. Perhaps next time before hiring a blogger, they should learn how to use Google!

Today, the Catholic League has called for the termination of Marcotte and I support them! Good riddance to Miss Marcotte and her brand of anti-Christian politics. If you want to send your thoughts to the Edwards campaign, you can email apurse@johnedwards.com
