Katrina, One Year Later
As we approach the one year anniversary of the Katrina disaster, much work still needs to be done. Peoples' lives still need to be put back together and debris is still present in neighborhoods- these are the images that the evening news will focus on over the next few nights.
I thought it important to bring to light the many volunteers and success stories in the midst of remembering this tragedy. From college students who gave up their Spring breaks to the Baptist "army" that attacked the Katrina problem like no other- Christians from around the country became examples for everyone.
While bureaucrats were arguing, church groups and volunteers moved to feed, clothe and shelter the victims. While this problem will be with us for many years to come, it is my hope the country saw first-hand what happens when Christians band together to help those in need.
